Junior Analysts

Jack Cavanaugh, '25 BS Finance & Business Analytics


Jack is a junior majoring in Finance and Business Analytics at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, with a minor in Creative Writing at the College of Arts and Sciences. His passion for finance is rooted in his long talks with his grandpa about the market over dinners, and his involvement in a virtual stock exchange at his high school’s investment club right on the verge of the COVID pandemic. Ever since he has seen the possibilities within the financial industry, he has continued to look for opportunities to learn more about the market. On top of being a Junior Analyst for the Orange Value Fund, Jack is the president of the Investment Club, and has enjoyed leading and planning meetings for its members. He is also heavily involved with Delta Sigma Pi, a professional business fraternity. He is currently serving as the Head Chairman of Philanthropy for Delta Sigma Pi and is looking forward to hosting two events to serve Syracuse’s local community. Additionally, he has traveled to New York City for the Whitman on Wall Street trip and got the opportunity to learn aboutthe different firms and areas the industry. This upcoming summer, he will be traveling to Tokyo and Seoul to learn more about their business environments and cultures. Jack hopes that his time in the Orange Value Fund will gift him with the experience and skills necessary to accomplish his career goals in the financial industry.

Charles Chodak, '25 BS Accounting & Finance; BA in Economics

Charles is a junior in the Whitman School of Management majoring in Accounting and Finance while pursuing a third major in Economics within the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs. His passion for finance sparked in high school through multiple business classes and involvement within DECA, an international business organization that gives high school students hands-on experience within different industries of business from marketing, management, finance, and hospitality. Charles has undertaken a rigorous course load with his triple major but remains a very strong student currently and plans on using all of his acquired knowledge to aid in his decision-making. This upcoming summer, Charles will work with The Royal Bank of Canada as an intern, and he will continue his work with the Orange Value Fund as both will help him gain the necessary skills and experience to succeed in any finance-related career he chooses to follow.

David Gabbay, '25 BS Finance, Business Analytics & Economics

David is a junior in the Whitman School of Management pursuing a triple major in Finance, Business Analytics, and Economics through the Maxwell School. He discovered his enthusiasm for finance in a college business class he took in high school, where he wrote an equity report spanning over 50 pages, focusing on news related to handpicked tracked equities. In addition to being involved with the Orange Value Fund, he is the Vice President of the Economics Student Association. He also competed in national stock pitch competitions with the Investment Club. Previously, David worked at Banneker Partners, an enterprise software private equity firm where he performed market due diligence on the software industry that supports municipal county clerks across the United States. This summer, David will join Shield, a financial communications compliance software firm; as a marketing analyst, he will conduct competitor intelligence and assist in developing the company’s go-to-market strategy for new products. David is excited to gain hands-on experience with value investing and financial modeling as a junior analyst at the Orange Value Fund.

Max Gargurevich, '25 BS Finance & Business Analytics

Max is a junior Finance and Business Analytics major at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management, with a minor in Economics. Finance has been a much more recent find for passion, though the door has always been open for him as his father would take him to his financial firm’s office at an early age. It was not until taking the introductory course in Finance at Syracuse that he realized this was something he found himself both exceedingly skilled and interested in. Outside of class, Max serves as the treasurer of the Syracuse Men’s ACHA Ice Hockey team. Max is extremely excited to begin his career at the Orange Value Fund and is ready for the challenges and learning experiences ahead of him.

Annika Holmberg,, '25 BS Finance & Magazine, News & Digital Journalism

Annika is a junior in the Whitman School of Management majoring in finance and a dual major in the Newhouse School of Public Communications majoring in Magazine, News & Digital Journalism. Originally from New Canaan, CT, her interest in the financial industries started in her advanced micro and macroeconomics courses in high school. Her decision to pursue a career in the financial industry was solidified after attending the Whitman on Wall Street Career Exploration Trip this past January where she toured various companies operating in different sectors of the industry. Outside of her studies, Annika serves as the Vice President of Risk Management for her sorority, Alpha Chi Omega. This summer, she will be attending the London School of Economics for a three-week intensive class in International Law. Annika plans to use her skills and knowledge learned in the Orange Value Fund as a solid foundation to pursue a career in the financial industry.

Akul Mallela, '25 BS Finance & Accounting

Akul is a junior at the Whitman School of Management with a double major in Finance and Accounting. His passion for business started at a young age when he started his own sneaker reselling business. AM took this passion for business and began exploring careers in the field of finance. At Syracuse, Akul is the Chief Technology Officer of the Investment Club as well as a member of the finance and accounting professional fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi. This summer, AM will intern at PWC to utilize problem solving, analytical, research, and organizational skills. He hopes to continue to build his skillset through the Orange Value Fund to help pursue a career in Investment Banking.

Aaron Hong, '25 BS Finance & Accounting

Aaron is a junior majoring in Finance and Accounting at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. Originally from Charlotte, NC, his passion for finance started when he was a junior in high school. He has grown this passion throughout his time at Syracuse University by taking the various finance and accounting classes offered. Outside of the classroom, Aaron is involved in the Syracuse University Investment Club and Orange Barbell Club, and he is a Peer Leader of a First Year Seminar 101 section. Besides finance, Aaron’s interests include fitness, soccer, basketball, and the violin. In the Spring 2023 semester, Aaron took part in the Whitman Sophomores in London program where he was able to learn more about the financial world of London and the various cultures there. This Summer, Aaron will intern at BDO as an Audit Intern in Charlotte, NC. Aaron plans to use these experiences and skills gained through the Orange Value Fund to propel him in his career in the financial services industry.

Andrew Morelli, '25 BS Finance & Real Estate

Andrew is a junior in the Whitman School of Management pursuing a double major in Finance and Real Estate. From Clifton Park, New York, Andrew has had a passion for finance, numbers, and all things business since elementary school. This passion continued into high school as he got involved in the business society and then came to Syracuse to major in Finance. Outside of the School of Management, Andrew is very active around campus. Andrew is a contracted ROTC cadet and the Public Affairs Officer within ROTC. He is also active in the Greek life community having been on the executive board of his fraternity, Delta Kappa Epsilon, and now the Director of Public Relations on the Interfraternity Council. Additionally, he is a part of the Real Estate Club and a member of the Club Lacrosse team. Andrew will be working at a real estate development firm, PH Reality Capital LLC, this summer in Manhattan. He looks forward to diving into finance as he gains experience working as an analyst at the Orange Value Fund.

Kevin L. Nguyen, '25 BS Finance & Information Technology

Kevin is a junior at the Whitman School of Management majoring in Finance, in addition to majoring in Information Technology and Management at the School of Information Studies. His interest in finance stemmed from the infinite opportunities it provides. Kevin is involved in various organizations at Syracuse University, including the Renée Crown University Honors Program, Goodman Leaders Academy, and the Worldwide Innovation Technology organization, among others. Alongside his academic pursuits, Kevin nurtures his interests in geography, astronomy, and reading, always seeking to expand his knowledge. He eagerly anticipates the prospects presented by the Orange Value Fund and recognizes its potential to propel his success in the financial industry and beyond.

John Masseria, '25 BS Finance & Data Analytics

John is a junior in the Whitman School of Management and the School of Information Studies pursuing a double major in Finance and Data Analytics. Originally from New York City, John’s passion for finance and data analytics stemmed from his love for numbers and working with big data sets. His first introduction to finances was with his own investing during high school where he tried to learn about cryptocurrencies and market trends during the pandemic. Out of school John loves to play on the club lacrosse team and working on outside projects of his own about any of his areas of interest. John hopes to use OVF to help him prepare to get an internship and a job in the FINTECH industry.

Joshua Ortega, '25 BS Finance & Business Analytics

Josh is a sophomore from Chicago dual majoring in Finance and Business Analytics. He became passionate about finance from exposure to the industry from his dad who works in residential finance. On campus, Josh is a peer mentor in the WellsLink leadership program. As a part of the program, Josh guides a cohort of freshman and helps organize/plan weekly academic seminars for the students. Josh also volunteers with Syracuse Enactus. Josh is looking to pursue a career in wealth management, and this summer, he will be interning with a team of financial advisors at Northwestern mutual. He hopes this experience, along with his strong communication and team building skills, will help him further reach his goals as an aspiring wealth manager. Josh also is an avid traveler, foodie, and a big fan of the Chicago Bulls.

Jackson Rover, '25 BS Finance, Accounting & Business Analytics

Jackson is a rising junior at the Whitman School of Management majoring in finance, accounting, and a minor in data analytics. His passion for finance started during the covid pandemic when I saw a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to invest. Beyond the classroom, he is an active member of the Syracuse club baseball team, and serve as the Vice President of Psi Upsilon. Jackson is also a member of the professional accounting fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi. This summer, he is excited to be working as an accounting intern at Barrett Industries, a construction company, where he will specialize in long-term revenue recognition. With my diverse experiences and academic background, he is poised to excel in the field of finance and accounting.

Aaron Siegelman, '25 BS Finance & Accounting

Aaron is a junior in the Whitman School of Management pursuing a double major in Finance and Accounting. Aaron has had an interest in business for as long as he can remember. His interest in the financial industry began in middle school when he opened his own personal investment account as he was trying to grow his savings. In high school, Aaron solidified his interest by joining the stock market club, gaining a deeper understanding of the markets. Outside of the classroom, Aaron is a member of Syracuse University’s investment club as well as an employee, member, and peer mentor at Syracuse Hillel. Aaron is excited to continue developing the skills needed in the finance industry through Orange Value Fund and believes the hands-on experience will prepare him for a future career in the industry.

Jack Venuti, '25 BS Finance & Entrepreneurship

Jack is a rising Junior in the Whitman School of Management pursuing a double major in Finance and Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises. Originally from Bedford, Massachusetts he found an interest in accounting and management at a young age by spending time around his family restaurant business that his grandfather and father have ran for the last 40 years. His passion in Finance began when Jack opened his first brokerage account when he was 17 and began actively managing while learning basic technical and fundamental analysis with a good friend of his. Inside of the Management School, Jack is a member of the Investment Club and has also taken advantage of many outside of the classroom experiences like Whitman On Wallstreet where he was able to be exposed to front office banking roles for the first time. On the extracurricular side of things, he has developed numerous leadership and problem solving skills from being elected into numerous executive positions in his Fraternity, Sigma Chi.  Jack’s main goal to gain from OVF is to perfect financial modeling as well as interpreting industry trends in which he plans on using for his future career endeavors.
